Campbell’s Bay, February 5th, 2016 – The municipality of Campbell’s Bay unveiled a mural today. This sixty foot long mural illustrates what the heart of the village of Campbell’s Bay looked like in the 1950s.
A committee of citizens and municipal officials was formed in April 2015, with the support of Émilie Chazelas of the MRC Pontiac, to complete a mural project; the aim was to beautify the heart of the village with an emphasis on the history of the buildings. Raymond Shea and Lizanne Kluke, committee members, worked long hours sorting through old photographs of the municipality. The theme of the mural was then chosen by the committee.
‘The project was financed through numerous fundraisers organized by the committee, including the Summer Festival 2015, a grant from the Conférence régionale des élus de l’Outaouais, and a contribution from the municipality’, said Tim Ferrigan and Maurice Beauregard, councilors and committee members.
The painting was created by professional artists Nathaly Lessard and Marie-Chantal Lachance of Sautozieux Workshop. Their works can be seen in Quebec City, Trois-Rivières, Joliette, and in Lyon (France).
