MNA ANDRÉ FORTIN ANNOUNCES INCREASE IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO $1,091,631 FOR DRINKING WATER TREATMENT IN CAMPBELL’S BAY
Campbell’s Bay, November 21, 2014 — André Fortin, MNA for Pontiac, on behalf of Pierre Moreau, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupation, is pleased to announce today that government financial assistance for the Municipality of Campbell’s Bay will rise from $613,048 to $1,091,631, an increase of $478,583 under the Programme d’infrastructures Québec-Municipalités (PIQM).
This additional contribution is the result of changes in eligible work and to an increase in the initial project cost. It will allow completion of all work on drinking water production facilities in Campbell’s Bay for standards compliance purposes, in particular, the putting in of additional water treatment equipment.
“I am very pleased about the additional support that our government is providing the Municipality of Campbell’s Bay, which will be used to complete work on the town’s water treatment facilities. This investment will help ensure an essential service to the population who will benefit from infrastructure compliant with current standards. Through this concrete action, our government is contributing to improving the drinking water quality and collective infrastructures as well as the development of the municipality, all to the greater benefit of the residents”, said MNA André Fortin.
More specifically, the project involves the putting in of a green sand and ion-exchange filtration system at the site of the municipal drinking water reservoir. It also includes the construction of a service building to house new facilities and equipment, such as a supply pump, pneumatic valves, piping and an-ion exchange softener along with instrumentation and controls.
Under part 1.4 of the PIQM, the maximum eligible cost for the realization of this project was raised to $1,637,446, with government assistance increased to $1,091,631. The Municipality of Campbell’s Bay is contributing $545,815 to this project.
